So let's get started 💪🏻

Bake Cupcakes For Halloween Cupcakes
You can use any of your favorite cake recipes to make Halloween cupcakes. I chose a classic chocolate cake recipe this time. Red velvet cupcakes would also look nice and spooky, as Halloween cupcakes or pumpkin spice bread is a great choice to add the orange color.
You can also use a classic vanilla butter cake recipe or mix in sprinkles to make confetti vanilla cake.
Pour the cake batter into cupcake liners on cupcake pans equally. Bake the chocolate cake at 330F for about 25 minutes.

TIP💡: Let them completely cool on a wire rack before frosting them since the buttercream melts on warm cupcakes!
Make Buttercream To Frost Halloween Cupcakes
Today, I used a basic American buttercream to frost the Halloween cupcakes. But just like the cupcakes, you can pick whichever frosting you like! Here are some of the ideas:
- Vanilla buttercream using American buttercream, Swiss meringue buttercream, Italian meringue buttercream, or French buttercream
- Lemon buttercream
- Chocolate buttercream
You can also use Cream cheese frosting, but I don't recommend it for detailed design since it is not as stiff as other buttercreams above.

How To Color The Frosting
I recommend using gel food coloring to get the best results - With gel food coloring, the consistency of the buttercream does not get affected too much when added a lot. In contrast, liquid food coloring makes it a lot more looser. You can also expect brighter colors with gel food coloring. This is why gel food colorings are more suitable for making various desserts, such as macarons.
Candy Eyeballs For Halloween Cupcakes
You can get premade candy eyes at grocery stores or any local mall, especially around the Halloween season. So go ahead and use them when you have very limited time! I made them and other face parts with fondant and gel food colorings this time. You can also use Loyal icing, white chocolate, chocolate chips, etc!

Does the fondant keep well in the fridge?
Yes! After testing storing the cupcakes in my fridge, the fondant kept nice and dry. It should work just fine if the fridge does not hold excessive humidity.
