Tips For The Ingredients
- Strawberries: Use fresh strawberries for the best taste. You can make it with frozen strawberries if you can not get fresh ones.
- Granulated sugar: It works as a preservative to extend the shelf life slightly more.
- Cornstarch: It helps to thicken the topping.
- Lemon juice: A splash of lemon juice adds a nice tartness to enhance the strawberry flavor. The acid also helps to keep the strawberry color bright while cooking it.

Can I use frozen strawberries to make the strawberry topping?
Yes! The cooking time may vary slightly, so pay close attention to the thickness to prevent the topping from getting too thick or loose.
4 Steps To Make Strawberry Topping
Cut Strawberries.
Wash strawberries and wipe off all the moisture. Cut half of the strawberries into small pieces and the other half into half.

Heat strawberries cut into pieces, sugar, cornstarch, and lemon juice together.
Mix granulated sugar and cornstarch with a whisk to eliminate the lumps of cornstarch.
Add strawberries cut into pieces, sugar & cornstarch mixture, and lemon juice to a medium saucepan and heat at medium heat.

Turn the heat down to medium-low heat once it starts boiling everywhere to prevent the bottom from getting burned. Mix evenly and frequently.
Continue heating it until it starts thickening like jam. The line should stay on the bottom of the pan when you scrape it off with a rubber spatula. It usually takes about 5 - 7 minutes. (It can vary depending on the size/type of the pan and stove or the condition of strawberries.)

Add strawberries cut in half.
Once thickened enough, add the strawberries cut in half and cook for another 1 minute.

Chill it in the fridge.
Pour it into a glass bowl or heat-resistant container and chill it in the fridge until it cools completely. (1h -)
